Fruit basket turnover - Bedroom Edition

For the past five months, we have been telling Jackson, "When Philip turns 2, he will get to move into your room."

For the past five months, Jackson has been excited about Philip's birthday.

After much discussion, we decided to first attempt the co-habitation with the bunk beds debunked. Wesley situated the room and we tucked the boys in for their first night together.

Well, it didn't go so well!

Jackson was tired. Philip was not.

Jackson tried to explain sleeping to Philip. Philip just yelled, laughed and walked all over Jackson.

After an amazing display of patience (on Wesley's part) and persistence (on Philip's part), Wesley finally put Philip to bed in Philip's room. Once he was asleep, we moved him over to Jackson's room. That went great until 6:00 the next morning when a wide awake Philip woke up a sleepy Jackson!
They looked so peacefully when Wesley put a sound-asleep Philip back in bed
The decision was made: This was just not going to work! Luckily, a tired Jackson didn't argue when we said Philip wasn't ready for the move!

So, Thursday, while the boys were in school and I was at work, Wesley re-bunked the beds and set up the double bed in Philip's room. Jackson likes having his bunk beds back and Philip likes his new set-up with a larger bed!

Philip's Birthday Party

On of my strengths as a mom is not advance thinking of birthday parties for my boys. I usually throw Jackson's together in two weeks. Luckily for me, all he cares about is playing with his friends so a party at home with his buddies is all he desires.

I decided this year for Philip, we would have a real party with his friends! Thanks so Pinterest - my new time-wasting obsession - I planned a Sesame Street party.

I saw some invitations on the internet and duplicated them for Philip:

Wesley and I decorated Tuesday night and were all ready for the party Wednesday morning. We dropped Jackson off at school (this party was going to be ALL about Philip!) and waited on his little friends to join us.
Take home bags I made for the kids
Philip's favorites - Elmo and Abby!
Cute shirt my mom made Philip!
Evelyn
She didn't move from this position until Allison removed her shoes!
There are going to be so many fun times ahead with these two!!!!!!
For breakfast we had blueberry muffins, fruit, hash brown casserole and breakfast bundles.
Elmo fruit platter!

Hilarious! Kieran bumped his head and Kristy got him a  bandaid. It feel off and we couldn't find it. Soon, Kieran found it and positioned it on his head - just no where near his boo-boo!

I was shocked when Philip blew out his candle on his own!!!

He wanted to try again so we lit it back up but this time Mommy had to help!

Birthday Continues

Wesley, Jackson, and I had a small celebration for Philip tonight after dinner. We didn't do anything fancy just opened presents after dinner. He was loving all the attention and all the toys that were all his!!
Thank you Aunt Susan and Uncle Tim
Aunt Emily and Uncle Ry-Ry for the Sesame Street Toy!

Grammy and KD sent Philip a book that Jackson enjoyed as well!
Mimi and PopPop also sent Philip a book!

Jackson loved his magazine that he got...
Really, it was just the Fisher Price catalog from Mimi's gift but Jackson thought it was for him!

Grammy sent Philip Mickey Mouse cars.
He was not into sharing them!
He kept saying "My Whoo-Whoo" to Jackson!
Jackson tried to take them, but Philip held on!
Ma-Ma - Mommy or Elmo - in this case, Elmo!
Happy Birthday from Mommy, Daddy, and Jackson!

Happy Birthday, Philip!

Today is Philip's 2nd birthday! I can't believe it! Where does the time go?! He is such a joy and though I  can't believe it has been two years, I really don't remember life without my Love Bug!

I took the day off work and went to school to celebrate with Philip and his classmates. I snagged Jackson out of class to come help me pass out the donut treats.

Waiting as Jackson passed out (and tasted) the donuts!
Some of Philip's preschool friends - not sure of their names and they weren't volunteering any information yesterday :-)

Madelyn
Jackson loved being in Philip's class for awhile but was ready to run back to Mrs. Pam!
So big!
After the birthday treats, I had my conference with Mrs. Mary. I was unsure about a conference over a 2 year old, but it was so sweet. She said (and I agreed) how much fun Philip is.

Her exact words were "When I think of Philip, I smile! He is such a happy boy!"

She then proceeded to tell about how much fun she and Mrs. Kim have when Philip shows off his dancin' skills! She also commented on how much he loves reading time. He is the last to leave the story circle which sounds about right! He does loves to read.

We are so blessed with our preschool. The teachers are wonderful. Mrs. Mary shared with me her #1 goal - to show the kids how much she loves them and how much Jesus loves them! Can't ask for more than that!

After the conference, I picked up a hot date! Wesley took this week off work and so we went to breakfast - nothing fancy as we had Chick-fil-a coupons! - and to the store. It was so nice to be together and have some quiet time!

I love you, Wesley!
