Meals By Grace Fun Run!

This morning, Wesley and Jackson participated in the first Meals By Grace 5K/Fun Run. Philip, Mimi, Pop Pop and I were on hand to cheer them on!

Wesley and my dad arrived at the race early (6:30 early!) to help with the set up. Mom, Philip, Jackson and I pulled in around 8:15 as the 5K started. It was perfect because we got to watch as all the runners made their way across the finish line.  Most of the participants were from our church which was so nice because we could cheer them on by name.

After the 5K, the 1-mile Fun Run took place and Jackson was so excited! He and Wesley stretched and then got in the pack to run. He took off strong and finished even stronger with the BIGGEST smile I have ever seen on his little face.

Of course, this wasn't his first race. When Wesley made the mistake of calling it that Jackson reminded his dad he had done a run at the YMCA...but this was his first "Big" race!

I was so proud of Jackson and so thankful, Wesley was willing to take part in this adventure with him.

I wanted a picture of the racers and got one of the racers and their biggest fan!
(The clock by the finish line was for the 5K and at 18 minutes, we already had at least 2 cross the finish line. The winner came across at 16 minutes!)
Cheering on!

They had a DJ with lots of loud music that meant one thing - Dance party for Jackson. He was having such a good time dancing and playing with his friends that Wesley had to finally tell him to sit down or there was no way he would make it through the mile run!

One of our ministers "participated" in the race on his bike! He took video and helped cheer on the runners from the field.
Getting ready!
Waiting to say "Ready, Set, Go!"

The Fun Run pack

GO!

Jackson took off (see them to the right of the light post) and went strong! He was so cute!
Wesley said he had to slow him down to walk a few times because he wanted him to have some energy left to cross the finish line!
And they did it!! Look at those smiles! Jackson so proud of himself and Wesley so proud of Jackson!

#8
Wesley said he did so well along the course. As they were nearing the finish line though, his shoe popped off and he took a tumble. Wesley went to pick him up but Jackson jumped back up and replied as he looked around, "I'm okay! I'm okay." He then came around the final turn to the finish line!
Philip is showing off his new rock -
Along the course, Jackson saw a rock, stopped running, picked it up and informed Wesley that Philip would really like that rock!  He was right!

Best seat in the house for the awards! He was much happier than this picture  depicts!
