Celebrating 60th with Pop Pop!

Today is my dad’s 60th birthday. To celebrate this milestone, several weeks ago, Emily and I participated in the Music City Half Marathon with him. After that accomplishment, we had to celebrate again…and this time it was all fun!

My dad’s favorite baseball team is the Philadelphia Phillies. He tells great stories of spending the summer with his grandparents right outside of Philly and listening the Phillies on the radio with his grandfather. His loyalty to the team is so special so when Ryan noticed that the Braves and Phillies would be playing in Atlanta on Dad’s birthday it was a no-brainer to take a trip down to Turner Field.

Due to a prior commitment, Susan and Tim weren’t able to join us, but Joshua and Caleb came down with Emily, Ryan and Dad. Sunday morning we traveled down to the Varsity for lunch and then enjoyed a great (but chilly!) game. Joshua and Caleb were cute as they cheered for the Braves. Dad was loyal amid all the Atlanta fans as he cheered on his Phillies.

The last inning, the Braves pulled out the win, but that didn’t ruin this great 60th celebration for Dad!

Happy Birthday, Dad!

At the VARSITY
Pop Pop and his boys (minus Benjamin who will join us in a few years!)
And minus his princess Rebekah

At TURNER FIELD
Jackson was in awe of everything! He loved every bit of the game. Especially watching Joshua and Caleb and doing everything they did - including holding on hopes that he would catch a foul ball!

Joshua

Philip

Emmie and RyRy

Pop Pop and Caleb
These two sat by each other the entire game and shared stats and their love for baseball!

We had great seats!

It was Civil Rights Day and Al Roker was on hand. Pretty Cool!

As was Jesse Jackson

I think this was Hank Aaron - I know he was there as well.

Susan texted us a picture from the televised version of the game. Top Left hand corner - It's Philip, Pop Pop, and me!

It didn't take long for the backseat to go quiet in our car!

The boys thought this was hilarious!

And finally - Joshua
"Aunt Leanne, take a picture of me making a funny face!"
