Garage Attic!

There has been no glimpse of a buyer for our home. At first we were a little disappointed by this truth, but now, we are kinda excited. We love our location; have fabulous neighbors; are a stone’s throw away from preschool; and have an affordable mortgage! All positives!

The only negative is we need a little more space. That too has become a positive! Wesley got an idea from our neighbor Steve to finish out the attic over our garage. It would be a small space but ideal for a playroom nook.

Several weeks ago the project began when Wesley invited his brother Joel and dad down to help with the design and construction work. They did a great job framing the space and judging from the laughter, they had a good time too!

After the framing was finished, Wesley and Jackson worked on the walls and finishing details. It looks so good and I am so proud of Wesley’s work with this project!

Let the project begin!

The first step was to cut the whole into Jackson's room. They were now committed to the project.

It seemed like an easy project, but it took a lot of thought and engineering to figure out the support, insulation, etc of this room. Joel and Jack were a huge help!

Once Jack and Joel left, Jackson joined Wesley to help with walls. The framing was complete, and all Wesley and Jackson had to do was put up the drywall.

Jackson loved being Wesley's helper.

He would measure and write down the measurements.

Then head to the basement to gather the wood...

and draw the line for cutting.

The line wasn't always straight so Wesley would go back over with a smile!

He quickly learned the easiest way to carry his supplies!

To finish the project, Wesley pained one wall with chalkboard paint and one with dry erase paint (so cool!) and the remaining two, he painted blue.

Oh, did I mention, Wesley framed the door and window, installed ceiling lights, and carpeted the room!! Amazing!

  1. Great job, Wes! Joshua and Caleb sure loved that room! (Sorry about the marker on the wrong wall!)
